Leading Players Record Victories in Veteran Tennis

Judie Louie of Newport Beach, the third-seeded player in the women’s 40-and-over division, defeated Patricia Frazier, 6-0, 6-2, Tuesday in the second round of the International Tennis Federation Veteran Championships at the Los Caballeros Sports Village in Fountain Valley.

Top-seeded Maria Pintarova of Hungary defeated Bebe Burns of the United States, 6-0 6-0, also in the second-round play.

Third-round play continues today starting at 9 a.m. at Los Caballeros and at the Lindborg Racquet Club in Huntington Beach. The tournament includes men’s and women’s competition in nine divisions from 35-and-over to 70-and-over.

Bobby Riggs and Tom Brown, the top-seeded men’s doubles team in the 65-and-over doubles division, will play at 11 a.m. Thursday at Los Caballeros.

Riggs, 70, won the men’s singles, men’s doubles and mixed doubles titles at Wimbledon in 1939. Brown, 65, won the Wimbledon doubles championship in 1946.
