R. P. Scherer Corp.’s largest shareholder, Karla Scherer Fink, won two board seats in a proxy battle that erupted over her plan to sell the gelatin capsule maker, but the company said it might challenge the vote. The results, announced at a special shareholders meeting, initially spelled victory for Fink, who has sought to find a buyer for the company her late father founded and her estranged husband runs. But Scherer Chairman Wilber Mack adjourned the meeting until Sept. 1, when the results of an election review are to be announced. Both Fink and her brother, John S. Scherer, objected vigorously to Mack’s closing of the meeting.
