PLO Says West Bank Is Now ‘Palestinian Bank’
From Reuters
TUNIS, Tunisia —
The PLO has begun using the expression “the Palestinian Bank” in place of “the West Bank”--a change intended to mark its assumption of a new role in the Israeli-occupied territory.
The new name appeared Tuesday in dispatches of the official Palestine Liberation Organization news agency WAFA.
The Israeli government and news media do not use the West Bank name either. They call the area by its Biblical names, Judea and Samaria.
