Syncor International said its profit rose 7% in the fourth quarter ended May 31 to $1.6 million, or 15 cents a share, compared to $1.5 million, or 13 cents a share, a year earlier. Revenue climbed 7% to $27.4 million from $25.7 million in the year-earlier period.

For the year, Syncor earned $4 million, or 38 cents a share, up 25% from the $2.4 million, or 21 cents a share, earned in the year-earlier period. Sales in the fiscal year rose 6.5% to $104.7 million.

The Chatsworth company, which operates a chain of pharmacies that supply radioactive drugs to hospitals, said its improved results came despite increased competition and expansion costs.
