‘Fragile Planet’

A big salute to The Times for its editorial “Fragile Planet” (Aug. 22). Just as an individual must face the negatives in one’s life in order to improve oneself, so must nations show the courage to tackle our monumental environmental problems, whatever the cost. The condition of an earth that has been entrusted to our care affects everyone and everything: creatures alive, those conceived and those as yet unconceived.

We must not leave a smothering world as a legacy for generations to come. We must protect, through higher taxes if necessary, the unheard voices of the innocent: our children and the countless species of wondrous wildlife. “Bless the Beasts and the Children.”
