Baldwin Park : Joint Dial-a-Ride Program

Share

Baldwin Park and West Covina have agreed to operate a joint dial-a-ride program for senior citizens and the disabled beginning in November.

The cities will continue to operate separate programs until then, when four new vans are scheduled to be added to the Baldwin Park fleet. West Covina has a 4-van system. Baldwin Park operates two vans.

Community Transit, the Santa Ana company that runs the West Covina system, will operate the joint program. The combined system will cost about $513,000, with each city picking up about half of the tab.

Under an incentive program, the county Transportation Commission will reimburse up to 25% of the costs of the program, based on the program’s performance.

The rates charged by the combined system will be 35 cents for a one-way ride and 50 cents for trips up to three miles outside the two cities’ limits.
