I have to wonder where Duncan Strauss was on Friday evening, Aug. 26. If his review of the Moody Blues concert (“Moody Blues Keep On Going . . . and Going . . . and Going,” Calendar, Aug. 29) is supposed to be accurate, we must assume he wasn’t even there.
“Snooze-a-rama?” From what I saw, practically everyone was on their feet, singing, dancing and having a terrific time. Mr. Strauss keeps referring to the length of the performance. Perhaps he wasn’t present to hear the repeated screams and chants for “just one more song” from those of us who were in attendance.
To his credit, Mr. Strauss did mention the Moody Blues’ “longevity . . . spanning three decades.” This might be attributed to the relevant lyrics of their songs, or the memories associated with their hits (who doesn’t have an experience they relive every time they hear “Nights in White Satin”?) But it positively does come from their caring for their fans.
The Moody Blues gave those of us who listened everything we wanted and more. Too Long? Most of us wish they’d played all night.
After three decades we still care about what the Moody Blues have to say (and sing). Mr. Strauss should only be so lucky to have someone care about what he has to say!
