Weekend TV : Labor Day Schedule to Bring Union Leaders and Politicians to the Tube

Some key players in the nation’s labor force will make appearances on television this Labor Day Weekend.

Lynn Williams, president of the United Steelworkers of America, will be the guest on “Business World” Sunday at 11 a.m. (7), 12:30 p.m. (3)(42).

Thomas Donahue, AFL-CIO secretary-treasurer, and Labor Secretary Ann McLaughlin are booked on “Newsmaker Sunday,” 7:30 a.m. and 2:30 p.m. Sunday on Cable News Network.

McLaughlin also will appear on “This Week With David Brinkley” Sunday at 11:30 a.m. (7)(3)(10) (42). She will discuss the transition of organized labor with Lane Kirkland, president of the AFL/CIO.

Jerry Lewis, meanwhile, will be involved in his annual labor of love--his 23rd Labor Day telethon for the Muscular Dystrophy Assn., kicking off at 6 p.m. Sunday on Channels 5, 39, 42. The benefit program continues to 5 p.m. Monday.
