Deukmejian Offers Reward in Killings
Gov. George Deukmejian has offered a $10,000 reward for the arrests of gunmen who killed two Los Angeles County men in a July drive-by shooting.
Mauro (Tom) Gaeta, 59, of West Covina, and Antonio Avila, 61, of Baldwin Park, were killed July 9 by shots fired from a car at a barber shop where Gaeta worked.
No arrests were made and it was not determined if the shootings were gang-related.
In April, Deukmejian announced he would offer rewards up to $10,000 for information leading to arrests and convictions in cases of street violence that stymie police because witnesses are reluctant to come forward.
