Vice President

Share

Many criticize the selection of certain individuals as vice presidential candidates. I take issue with the selection process itself, more than with any individual selected.

The 12th Amendment provides that the nominees for president and vice president be joined on a single ticket. I find no fault with this. I do, however, find great fault with the fact that a single person, a presidential nominee, has the sole power to select a vice presidential nominee who might be a possible future president in the event of some mishap to a president.

This cannot, by any stretch of the imagination, be called part of the democratic process. The people are completely closed out. I find this reprehensible in any modern society.
