Simi Delicatessen’s Overhang Collapses

Share

The concrete overhang on a Simi Valley delicatessen collapsed Tuesday, causing the front of the building to cave in, but there were no injuries, police said.

The accident occurred about 5:20 p.m. at the Simi 4 Deli in the 2300 block of Tapo Street, said Sgt. Ken Tacke of the Simi Valley Police Department.

An undetermined number of customers were in the deli at the time of the accident, he said.

The overhang, attached to the roof, covered the sidewalk in front of the shopping center delicatessen, Tacke said.

“We’re not sure why it collapsed,” he said.

No estimate of the amount of damage was available, he said.
