An engineer in the campaign for a leadership change at American Medical International--M. Lee Pearce--has urged the hospital chain to replace Walter L. Weisman, former chairman and chief executive, with an outsider. Weisman resigned under pressure Aug. 30 after AMI’s board concurred with Pearce and three other major AMI investors who had called for a change. Beverly Hills-based AMI is looking inside and outside the company for a new chief executive.
