HEMPSTEAD, N.Y. —
Walter Hudson, who weighed 1,200 to 1,400 pounds last year, walked out the door of his home for the first time in 18 years today, announcing he was down to 520 pounds.

Firefighters had to cut him free. Comedian-turned-nutritionist Dick Gregory got him started on a diet.
