Johnny Cash will be guest-starring in the first episode of NBC’s new “Davy Crockett” series as--who else--Davy Crockett. But Cash will be playing 50-year-old Col. Crockett, who is called upon by President Andrew Jackson for help in the Indian Wars. Cash is scheduled to be in only the first episode, during which he flashes back to his Indian-fighting youth, which sets off the rest of the series. Young Crockett is played by Tim Dunigan, who starred last year in the science-fiction series “Captain Power.” Filming of the series is to begin Sept. 12 in Vancouver, Canada, to get the series on the air by November.
