Local News in Brief : Body Found in Newhall Spurs Homicide Probe
Los Angeles County sheriff’s detectives were investigating the death of a man whose body was found Thursday on a Newhall bike path, authorities said.
The body was found about 8:30 a.m. by a bicyclist on a frequently used bike path off of Clampitt Road near the Sierra Highway, Deputy Roger Hom said. There were no signs of trauma on the body or a struggle at the scene, but the death is being investigated as a homicide, he added.
An autopsy will be conducted to determine the cause of death, Hom said.
The dead man, who has not been identified, was described as white, 35 to 40 years old, with a slim build and brown hair and wearing brown pants and a Hawaiian-style shirt with a floral pattern against a charcoal-colored background.
