John L. Sinn; TV Executive, Leader of Hospital Volunteers
John L. Sinn, a television executive who late in life became president and chairman of the board of trustees of Eisenhower Medical Center in Rancho Mirage, died in New York City of an apparent heart attack Tuesday. He was 74 and with his wife was visiting their children there.
Sinn, the third head of the desert medical center, was named president in 1979 and last month was appointed board chairman when Bob Hope’s wife, Delores, assumed the title of chairman emeritus.
Born in Cincinnati, Sinn went directly to television from the University of Cincinnati. He first was president at ZIV Programs and from 1959 to 1969 headed United Artists Television.
After moving to the West Coast he began delving into charitable activities, organizing hospital volunteers. He was active in creating the Annenberg Center for Health Sciences, the Hal B. Wallis Research Facility at Eisenhower, and the Barbara Sinatra Children’s Center.
