Reagan Rips Delay on Judges

President Reagan said today that federal courts have cracked down on criminals since he took office and accused Senate liberals of foot-dragging on 28 pending judgeship nominations.

In a speech to a convention of the lawyers’ organization known as the Federalist Society, Reagan complained bitterly about the lack of action in the Senate on the judicial nominations. “The liberals may talk about crime and drugs, but the thing that they care about is their agenda--and protecting, as best they can, the one branch of government where their agenda clearly has held sway,” the President said.
