Permits for single-family houses in Orange County took a deep drop in July. The 174 permits issued was the lowest monthly total in more than two years. The 2,305 permits issued the month before was the highest total in two and one-half years. Although most of the change was because of the decline in permits issued for projects in the unincorporated areas, significant dips also took place in Huntington Beach, Newport Beach and Yorba Linda.
