A cabdriver was stabbed, robbed and locked in the trunk of his car early Friday, police said.
Daniel Snyder, 31, of Chula Vista reportedly picked up a man and a woman at the Plaza Hotel in the 1000 block of 4th Avenue shortly before 5 a.m., said police spokesman Bill Robinson.
The couple asked to be taken to 33rd Street and University Avenue, and, when they arrived in that area, the man stabbed the driver in the throat, Robinson said. Police said the amount of cash taken had not been determined.
Snyder was then locked in the trunk of the cab, which the couple drove to the 4100 block of 51st Street and abandoned, Robinson said.
A nearby resident heard Snyder calling for help and called the police.
Snyder was taken to Mercy Hospital, where he was listed in fair condition, a spokeswoman said.
