An initial investigation into the air crash that killed Pakistani President Zia ul-Haq, U.S. Ambassador Arnold L. Raphel and 28 others in eastern Pakistan last month indicates that sabotage on board the air force C-130, probably involving a bomb explosion, caused the disaster, according to a report in the Washington Post. But U.S. officials in Washington said that fragmentary information has not yet confirmed that an explosion caused the crash and that mechanical failure has not been ruled out. The investigation, conducted under Pakistani direction with U.S. technical support, is at least several weeks from completion, they said.
