MOUNTAIN VIEW, Calif. —
Rear Admiral Jesse J. Hernandez, a native of San Leandro, Calif., was named commander of the U.S. Pacific Fleet. Hernandez, 53, will command air stations in Alaska and Hawaii, as well as Moffett Field, where he will be headquartered. He will be responsible for more than 90 million square miles of ocean and 15,000 military and civilian personnel.
