Share

Scott Brown, superintendent of a small school district in Northern California, has been selected superintendent of the Castaic Union School District.

Brown, 41, is a doctoral candidate in educational management at the University of La Verne and has worked in small school districts for most of his career. He has been superintendent of the 1,200-student Cloverdale Unified School District in Cloverdale, north of San Francisco, since 1985 and was once the superintendent and principal of the 200-student Fort Jones Elementary School District near the Oregon border.

Brown, selected by the board of trustees last Thursday, will assume his new post Oct. 1.

Brown replaces Reed Montgomery, who resigned in June to become superintendent of the Rim of the World Unified School District in Lake Arrowhead.
