This year’s strong hiring trend will keep up its momentum through the fourth quarter despite a rise in the August unemployment rate, according to a quarterly survey by Manpower Inc. of Milwaukee. The nationwide survey of 14,000 employers indicates that 28% of the firms interviewed plan to increase employment during the final quarter of 1988, while 8% plan cutbacks and 61% will remain at current levels. Year end hiring activity will be led by the wholesale and retail sectors, although at a slightly lower rate than last year.
