Jay Edwards of Indiana, last season’s Big Ten basketball freshman of the year, said reports about his drug use have been exaggerated and he hopes to rejoin the team next year.

“The way they put it out, it was like I was dead almost and everything was ruined,” Edwards, who tested positive in a recent school-administered drug test, told the Indianapolis Star. “It’s not even close to that. I can stop now, which I have. The test was 2 1/2 weeks ago, and I haven’t touched anything since. I had no problem stopping.”
