Enchanted Forest to Open Fall Concert Series for Kids

Share

The Enchanted Forest, 20929 Ventura Blvd., Woodland Hills, begins its fall concert series Sunday evening with two performances by Bob Harrison. With his fast and upbeat repertoire of children’s songs, Harrison likes to get the whole audience, kids and parents alike, tapping their toes and slapping their hands together. The one-hour program begins at 6 p.m. and again at 7:30 p.m. Children can sit with their parents in theater seats or up close to the stage on the floor.

The program continues every other Sunday: Lois Young and Capt. Flapjacks in “Pancakes” on Oct. 2; Joni Bartels, of “Lullaby Magic” tapes, on Oct. 16; a Halloween Magic Party on Oct. 30; “Kids in Motion,” a live concert version of the Nickelodeon television show, on Nov. 13, and singer/songwriter Dan Crow on Dec. 13. All tickets are $7 for adults, $6 for ages 2-16, free for younger than 2.

The Enchanted Forest is a complex of classes, theater and toy store dedicated to showing kids how to learn through fantasy. Offering year-round classes, after-school care during the school year and “Mommy and Me” classes (Mornings in the Forest), the center has programs for ages 18 months to 14 years.

Classes include mixed-media workshops in animal arts, dinosaurs and spacemen; puppetry, and creative dramatics. Kids as young as 18 months are given a chance to perform on stage. There are also birthday-party packages and theatrical performances, including a two-week return engagement of “Camelot” in December.
