Sacramento FBI Sting

Share

In “Sacramento Litter” (editorial, Sept. 2), you have properly characterized the shameful record of the recent session of the Legislature. The self-centered leadership of both bodies did precious little to earn their salaries and perquisites, but instead, wasted millions of taxpayers’ dollars by concentrating their egotistical efforts on political one-upmanship.

It is my sense that more and more of California’s electorate wants to see some changes made. However, because our present system of financing campaigns heavily favors incumbents, this goal is a most difficult one to achieve. We must continue to seek a way to correct this imbalance, but recognize that it will not originate with the Legislature.

Until a more equitable system is developed and put in place, we hope The Times will continue to expose the shabby politicians who waste our money in Sacramento.
