Kowalski’s Injury May Keep Him Out of Chargers’ Lineup Again

Chargers tackle Gary Kowalski, who missed Sunday’s victory over the Seattle Seahawks with a neck injury, could be lost to the team for quite a while longer, Coach Al Saunders said Tuesday.

Kowalski has been undergoing treatment on his neck the past two days, and Saunders said the team will know more about his injury today.

“We should know his availability for this upcoming week, or maybe even the rest of the season, very soon,” Saunders said.

If Kowalski is unable to return, John Clay, acquired from the Los Angeles Raiders in the Jim Lachey trade, will continue to take his place at left tackle.

The Chargers also worked out linebacker Ilia Jarostchuk (6-foot 3-inches, 231 pounds) but did not indicate whether they would sign the 1987 No. 5 draft choice of the then St. Louis Cardinals.
