Santa Monica : Hostel Ground Breaking Set
- Share via
American Youth Hostels has announced plans to break ground this fall on the 200-bed Santa Monica International AYH-Hostel at 1436 2nd St.
The hostel, a 4-story, 30,000-square-foot facility, will preserve and encircle the historic Rapp Saloon, the city’s oldest building. The landmark, erected in 1875, will serve as the hostel’s common room and will be available for special events.
The $4.5-million project, expected to be completed in late 1989, was made possible by a $730,000 grant through the California Coastal Commission.
