Miscovered Olympics

My hat is off to Rosenberg for making known the frustrations of millions like myself who are being driven batty by NBC’s painfully bad Olympics broadcasts.
Most folks watch the Olympics to see extended coverage of events such as gymnastics and diving. What we get instead is maybe five minutes of gymnastics interrupted by updates on Greco-Roman wrestling, following by seven minutes of commercials, then a few inspiring minutes with Bryant (Mr. Personality) Gumble (why he was picked by NBC to host its Olympics coverage is as big a mystery as the Shroud of Turin). Lord, how I miss Jim McKay.
The Olympics are far from over, but NBC’s all-flash-no-substance coverage has made them seem as though they’ve gone on for eons. There’s a lesson to be learned here on how not to cover the Olympics.
I never thought there could be a sports event on TV that would make me look forward to watching ESPN’s 4 a.m. broadcasts of tag-team mud wrestling.
