Former Rep. Glenn R. Davis, 73, of Wisconsin who served in Congress for 20 years. Davis, a Republican, was in Congress first from 1947 until 1957, when he ran unsuccessfully for the Senate seat vacated by the death of Sen. Joseph R. McCarthy. Davis lost in the Republican primary to Walter Kohler, who was defeated by Democrat William Proxmire. After practicing law in Waukesha for several years, Davis was again elected to Congress in 1964 and served until his defeat by Robert Kasten in the 1974 GOP primary. He was elected to the state Assembly in 1940 but resigned before the end of his first term to enter the U.S. Navy. He served in the South Pacific.
