SOUND AND FURY

It was either my father, or perhaps my Uncle Harry, who told me that you should never trust a writer who uses words like eponymous , paradigmatic or fructifies . Neal Gabler, in the extract from his book, shoved these and many other ponderous and improbable words at us in “Sound and Fury,” words lifted from Shakespeare, whose full quote in Macbeth said it much better: “It is a tale told by an idiot, full of Sound and Fury, Signifying nothing.”

I cannot comprehend why the Los Angeles Times would drag out these stale ashes of yesterday and dump them on its readers’ doorsteps.
