Local News in Brief : Woman Who Baked Parrot Pleads Guilty

Guadelupe Rodriguez, accused of baking her boyfriend’s parrot in a 450-degree oven, has pleaded guilty in Los Angeles Municipal Court to animal cruelty by torture. She will be sentenced on Dec. 5 and could draw up to three years in state prison.
Prosecutors said Rodriguez, 25, baked the bird in a covered pot after she and Robert Carballo, 29, had a fight. Dist. Atty. Ira Reiner had called it “one of the worst cases of pet abuse that I’ve ever heard of.”
