‘Smokescreen:’ Proposition 99

Share

The tobacco industry’s finest media attack on Proposition 99 fell on its face. The current law-and-order scare campaign has shot itself in the foot.

The tobacco industry wants to discuss everything but what Proposition 99 is all about. They don’t want to talk about educating our children not to smoke. They don’t want to talk about $30 million used for research in tobacco-related diseases. They don’t care about providing medical care for people who have no insurance and they don’t care about the destruction caused by careless smokers, the third largest cause of fires in California.

The Coalition for a Healthy California does care. That’s why we qualified Proposition 99 for the Nov. 8 ballot.
