Every thrill has its price, and John Denver has apparently decided that the thrill of going up in space is worth a cool $10 million. That’s the figure the Soviet weekly newspaper Moscow News reported in a story about Denver’s attempt to book a spot on a Soviet space ship. “It seems that a civilian flight under the American program will not take place,” Denver was quoted as telling the newspaper. The newspaper said Denver had already made initial contacts with the Soviet space authority Glavkosmos. If selected to fly, Denver would get a two-day flight on a Soyuz space ship and six days aboard the orbiting space station Mir for his $10 million investment.
