Warner Communications said it will fight a New York state court ruling that blocked its planned acquisition of Lorimar Telepictures Corp. on grounds that the deal violated an agreement between Warner and its biggest shareholder, Chris-Craft Industries. Chris-Craft had claimed in a suit filed July 12 that since Lorimar owned six television stations, the merger would violate a 4-year-old agreement prohibiting Warner from owning any TV station so long as it owned 25% or more of Chris-Craft’s BHC Inc. broadcasting subsidiary. Warner owns a 42.5% stake in BHC.
