JOHANNESBURG, South Africa —
Seven men went to the gallows in Pretoria at dawn Friday, bringing the total number of executions in South Africa this year to 96, officials said.
A prisons department spokesman said the seven--five black and two Colored (mixed-race) men--were hanged for five murders committed in Cape Town and in four small towns in Transvaal province.
