Local News in Brief : South County : Interference From Sun May Interrupt Cable TV

The more than 92,000 south county customers of Dimension Cable Services may experience interruptions on some channels between 1 and 2 p.m. daily through next Monday because of the alignment of a television satellite between the sun and the earth, company officials said.

General Manager Richard Anderson said the phenomenon began Monday and interruptions may last as long as five minutes before gradually vanishing by next Monday.

Anderson said interference from the sun occurs twice a year, in the spring and fall, and affects all cable transmissions received from communication satellites.

He said that if video and audio fading continues after next Monday, customers should make service calls to the Dimension cable office, (714) 240-1212.
