1,700 ’88 Jettas Recalled by VW to Inspect Brakes

TROY, Mich. — Volkswagen, United States is recalling 1,700 late 1988 Volkswagen Jetta models for inspection of the brake vacuum unit, which could separate under heavy braking application and suddenly diminish braking power, a company spokesman said. Volkswagen, United States is the marketing arm of the auto maker.
