Go Dodgers!

We were privileged to be in Dodger Stadium on Wednesday night, eating our Dodger dogs, drinking our Dodger beer, yelling “Beat New York” and telling ourselves that this was the best of all possible worlds, to be in the best of all possible stadiums with our 55,000 cheerful fellow fans watching the best of all possible sports played by the best of all possible teams.

So it was with astonishment Friday morning that we picked up our favorite newspaper and found in the Sports Section an ad that said “the Dodgers are History” and “Go Mets.” It was placed there by a cheeky New York newspaper, whose name we won’t honor by repeating.

We believe in free speech, the First Amendment and all that, but this was going too far.

Go Dodgers! Beat New York!
