Rob Moroso, who celebrated his 20th birthday last week, held off veteran Geoff Bodine to win the All-Pro 300 NASCAR race at Charlotte Motor Speedway in Concord, N.C., by less than a second.
Moroso, driving an Oldsmobile, averaged 123.683 m.p.h. in a race slowed by 7 caution flags for 35 laps. It was Moroso’s first superspeedway victory and it earned him $54,650.
Third was Bobby Hillin in a Buick. Ken Schrader took fourth, and Darrell Waltrip finished fifth, one lap down. Both drove Chevrolets.
