Officially Correct
The French consulate no longer requires a photograph for issuance of a French visa for holders of American passports. However, the consulate’s recorded visa information line still states that a photograph is needed. When I pointed this out to the French consular official, she replied with impeccable Gallic logic: “But the recording is not correct!”
