Local News in Brief : Woman Bites Off Lip of Alleged Attacker
A North Hollywood man who police said tried to rape a 25-year-old neighbor was in the jail ward of Los Angeles County-USC Medical Center on Sunday after the victim bit off part of his bottom lip.
William LaRue, 24, ripped open the woman’s blouse and threw her to the ground, said Sgt. Bill Dorn of the Los Angeles Police Department’s North Hollywood Division. As LaRue tried to kiss his victim, she bit off part of his lower lip, authorities said.
The incident occurred Saturday night in a front yard in the 6200 block of Clybourn Avenue, where LaRue and the victim live, police said.
Neighbors pulled LaRue off the woman, who ran to her house, police said. Neighbors, told police that LaRue went to his house and returned a few minutes later with a shotgun. Officials said he fired a shot into the air before police arrived and arrested him on suspicion of assault with a deadly weapon.
A report also was filed on the attempted rape and LaRue may also be charged with the assault, police said. After the incident, LaRue was taken to North Hollywood Medical Center, where doctors told him the lip could not be reattached and recommended plastic surgery, authorities said.
LaRue is being held in lieu of $17,000 bail.
