Death Ordered for Gandhi Killers

NEW DELHI —
An Indian judge today ordered the execution of two men convicted in the 1984 assassination of Prime Minister Indira Gandhi.
Judge S. C. Jain issued black-bordered warrants for the execution of Satwant Singh and Kehar Singh, both Sikhs, who were sentenced to death in 1986. Jain set no date for the execution and the condemned men’s lawyer said he will petition President Ramaswamy Venkataraman to pardon them.
