World Series fever turned to Dodger blues today when fans who waited hours in line at the Dodgers’ ticket office learned that tickets for the baseball championship will be sold only by telephone.

More than 100 people were in a line that stretched from the advance ticket office near Dodger Stadium out to Stadium Way when a security officer arrived with the bad news about 8:15 a.m.

“You can tell the Dodgers they lost a lot of fans,” said Brooks Davis, 25, of Redlands.

Some fans brought folding chairs and sleeping bags. Others just came straight to the ticket office after the Dodgers’ Wednesday night 6-0 victory over the New York Mets that won the National League pennant.

Some fans insisted they heard on the radio that tickets would be on sale, but a team spokeswoman said the radio announcement specified that sales would be by telephone only.
