Southland May Get a Touch of Rain Today

Share

There might be some light rain or sprinkles in the Southland this morning, forecasters say, but a sluggish upper-level weather system should drift eastward and give way to a reasonably pleasant weekend.

The National Weather Service placed the chance of moisture this morning at 20%.

Saturday, said meteorologist Dave Beusterien of WeatherData Inc., which provides forecasts for The Times, should bring temperatures in the low 70s along the coast and near 80 degrees inland.

“By Sunday,” he said, “I think we could see even warmer temperatures . . . in the mid- or upper 80s inland.”

The weak cold front that kept Thursday’s Civic Center high temperature reading to 73 after an overnight low of 62 will keep Los Angeles about that cool today under cloudy skies, Beusterien said.

The front may not bring rain to the deserts, but there might be some showers in the mountains this afternoon.

The National Weather Service said gusty west-to-southwest winds were developing in the northern deserts Thursday and would spread to the southern deserts today.

The surf is expected to be in the 3-foot range today and Saturday from Santa Barbara to San Diego.
