Voting on the Propositions

Share

Proposition 102 (AIDS reporting) is a dangerous measure that could set a precedent for the entire country.

It would allow employers to test employees for the AIDS virus. Granted the virus is deadly, but nothing justifies allowing employers to test employees. Because of the stigma attached to the disease this could be used as harassment against employees.

It also requires all people reasonably suspected of having the virus to give a list of their intimate partners to the state. The measure, however, does not define what is meant by reasonably suspected. Would just a persistent cough and weight loss make one suspect?

Proposition 102 is poorly written and goes overboard. It would be bad for the welfare of the people in our state.
