Gerber Products Co. reported record second-quarter earnings of $23.9 million, up 36% from a year ago. Sales grew 7.5% to $276 million. The Fremont, Mich., company attributed the results to a 12% rise in baby food sales over the year-ago period and improved earnings in its apparel group.
