College Roundup : Warde’s 4 Goals Lead UC Irvine in Water Polo

Tom Warde scored 4 goals to lead UC Irvine to a 10-8 victory over UC Santa Barbara Saturday in a Big West Conference water polo match at Santa Barbara.

Irvine (11-8, 3-1 in conference) took a 4-1 lead in the first quarter, but Santa Barbara pulled to within 6-4 at halftime.

Tony Bell scored 3 goals for Irvine. Scott Burt had 6 goals for Santa Barbara.

Goalkeeper Andy Nott made 11 saves for the Anteaters.

In the National Christian Collegiate Athletic Assn. district volleyball playoffs:

Pacific Christian 3, American Bible 0--Kris Dodson had 10 kills and 3 blocks as Pacific Christian swept to a 15-6, 15-2, 15-1 victory in the final. Pacific Christian will play in the NCCAA championship tournament at Baptist College in Pennsylvania starting Thursday.

In California Collegiate Athletic Assn. men’s soccer:

Cal State Bakersfield 1, Chapman 0--Aaron Elis scored for the Roadrunners (11-3-1, 3-3-0) with 30 minutes left at Chapman. The Panthers are 6-11 and 0-7.

In nonconference women’s soccer:

Westmont 2, Chapman 1--Tania Nasir scored twice in the first half to lead the Warriors past the Panthers (7-7-3) in a match at Santa Barbara. Junior Shelly Williams scored in the second half for Chapman.
