Israel suspended the press credentials of three British journalists, saying they violated military censorship by not submitting reports about army undercover units in the occupied territories. The credentials of Steve Weizman and Paul Taylor of the Reuters news agency and Andrew Whitley of the London-based Financial Times were suspended pending an investigation, the Government Press Office said. A Reuters story by Weizman said undercover army units had unusual orders to shoot Palestinians suspected of organizing violent protests. Taylor, the bureau chief, said the agency stood by the story. On Oct. 11, Whitley wrote that undercover troops used Arab cars and posed as journalists to detain suspected rioters.
