Local News in Brief : New Setback for Cityhood Forces

Share

A scheduled Nov. 3 hearing by the Los Angeles County Board of Supervisors to set a date for a referendum on Malibu cityhood was postponed Friday by a Superior Court judge in response to a lawsuit filed by a Malibu landowner seeking to overturn approval of the incorporation petition.

The lawsuit, filed by Chris Kolodziejski, seeks to halt the incorporation proceedings until the Local Agency Formation Commission, the agency that approves cityhood proposals, does a full environmental impact study on the effects of cityhood.

Judge Miriam A. Vogel set a Nov. 16 court date to hear arguments in the case. A ruling in Kolodziejski’s favor could delay a vote on incorporation for more than a year.
